Let's make verdant dreams real.

pilipinas blog action day 2009It’s that time of the year again when the blogosphere starts walking the talk: This time, it’s about making a stand on Climate Change. The Computer Professionals’ Union, TXTPower, Kalikasan People’s Network for the Environment, Philippine Climate Watch Alliance, Kabataan Partylist, Bloggers’ Kapihan and other organizations and individuals will be participating in Blog Action Day 2009.

We in CPU have been active participants in Blog Action Day and the Philippines climate activism movement itself, being part of the Asia-Pacific regional umbrella alliance, the People’s Actions on Climate Change. We have contributed both our technical services and warm bodies to the advancement of climate justice for the Philippines and other vulnerable nations around the world.

It is high time for the online community to start being vocal in calling for enforced carbon emission cuts in the international level, and demanding the government to be serious in its implementation and enforcement of environmental and climate change laws. The recent typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng is a timely testament to what climate change has in store for us, but we are now beyond the time for reflection: now is the time for action!

If you wish to join this event, write a post on climate change on Oct. 15 and place a link to this post. You may also spread the word about Blog Action Day by placing this badge on your blog:

To all fellow ICT practitioners, friends and colleagues: let us make the Philippine blogosphere make a stand on climate change, in solidarity with the rest of the world. Bloggers of the World, Unite! Climate Justice Now!
